School's Out! #52 - Traumnovelle

Every last Friday of the month the Independent School for the City celebrates the start of the weekend with a public lecture. For this evening we've invited the Brussels-based architectural office Traumnovelle to talk about their practice and works at the intersection of architecture and fiction, using both as critical and creative instruments to address how we live together.

The talk of title of their lecture is "Nevertheless".

"Dear Caspian,
It’s tempting to think that in your absence, you’ve missed little from this world, and perhaps, you are better for it. From where you stand, far from here, what difference could it make if this reality, with all its apparent splendor, turns out to be hollow?"

Traumnovelle is a Brussels-based architectural practice, founded Founded by Léone Drapeaud, Manuel León Fanjul, and Johnny Leya. They work from the believe that architecture is more than the design of buildings, but a tool for world-making, community-building and an important force for societal change. Each project at Traumnovelle is conceived as part of a larger narrative, a story brought to life through space, form, and material. Their work focuses on creating environments that are functional, inspiring, and thought-provoking, fostering shared experiences and collective memory. Rejecting the ordinary, Traumnovelle designs spaces that open new possibilities for interaction and co-existence.
